Before this year in my creative arts class, I had never stepped into an art gallary. I often will look at art online, but I didn't think that going to an art gallary would be much different. Needless to say, I was wrong on that one. There's something more visceral and impactful about seeing a piece of art in person, as opposed to seeing it on a screen. The industrial revolution and its consequences and all that. One artist that stood out to me at this gallary was an artist from Quebec named Pierre Giroux. Giroux has this beautiful impressionist art style, which makes a lot of his paintings look hazy and dream-like, almost like a scene from a fairy tale. Far from taking away from the painting, his art is gorgeous. Probably my favourite painting in the whole gallary, L'Arabesque, was by him. What I especially love about L'Arabesque is the pallette: green and purple are some of my favourite colours, and the overgrowth in addition to Giroux's art style makes it look like a fairy tale. His recent works have been about celebrating abandoned farmhouses, which I think this painting captures very well.
